To close out 2024, Historias en Kilómetros celebrated its sixth generation with community screenings in Kakuma, Kenya, and Putumayo, Colombia, where hundreds of people enjoyed locally created stories, strengthening cultural identity and South-to-South connections.
After completing a year of training with Historias en Kilómetros, the production teams THE KAMP, from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, and YAT WALA PRODUCCIONES, from the Nasa Kiwnas Chxab territory in Putumayo, are now new HEK partners and part of the international network of community filmmakers. Welcome!
THE KAMP CEREMONY
On November 16th, the Kakuma refugee camp became the stage for an unprecedented event: THE KAMP ceremony. This celebration was a milestone for both the camp and Historias en Kilómetros. We transformed a soccer field into a stunning open-air cinema, where more than 1,500 people from over 15 nationalities living in the camp gathered to enjoy original stories.

Together with YAT WALA PRODUCCIONES, the entire territory gathered to enjoy the premiere of four stories created during their training process.
