Pedro, a young fisherman, heads upstream in his canoe to begin his fishing duties. On his way back home, he is mesmerized by a beautiful woman and pulled out of the canoe, leaving it adrift. The canoe is carried downstream by the current, collecting stories and events that unfold along the Magdalena River, such as children learning the art of fishing from a young age, and women from riverside communities washing their clothes by hand in the river. Eventually, Pedro’s mother finds the canoe and alerts the town that her son has disappeared.
